About the project
How might we help the consumer be more conscious
regarding his/her energy consumption
Project Type : Group
Client : Hackathon on UNSDG
Year : 2018

According to NSSO, total household consumption in 2008 =151.86TWh. 5-10% of household energy consumption is due to wastage. The consumer is not aware of this, and neither is he/she bothered to cut down on his consumption.
S.T.E.A.M SCHOOL, an initiative to encourage hands-on education and problem-solving, based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Under the umbrella of Bonjour India 2017-18, this Indo-French partnership program brought together 100 participants
from India & France. The challenges are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The hackathon was supplemented by various talks about gamification, Paper prototyping, gamification, behavior design, etc.

Problem Statement:
Background :

To keep track of every device and the energy it consumes, install our product for each room, and download the app. The app is connected to the device through WiFi. It will monitor the consumption pattern and will produce real-time updates.
We have assigned a separate page that will guide the user towards reducing the wastage of energy.
The entire plan will be set up on a community level, and a reward scheme for users is planned for the same. The Gamification aspect is introduced later on by setting up leaderboards and points systems.
Paper Prototyping
I was responsible for the actual tech implementation of the product and making the case. At the same time, my teammates worked on the user research, gamification, and behavior design aspect of the project. I worked on laser cutting the paper prototypes.
Personal Contribution:

Following are mockups of screenshots of the designed application in Figma. They illustrate the total power consumption of the user. The second screen shows the energy consumption behavior with the points earned in power-saving on the third screen. This is the gamification aspect that has been integrated into the application.
